The unit is acting to serve company’s direction in two major roles. Firstly, it is to conduct the Research and Development Management focusing on opportunities in alternative energy. Moreover, business opportunities in new technologies presenting good potential and alignment with our strategic directions can also be included in the scope.
Our responsibility includes the identifying potential technologies, experimenting and prototyping, collaborating with partners / expertise outside our SCG conglomerate, searching for potential sources of raw materials, conducting feasibility study, and also start developing the market.
Secondly, the unit also utilizes our skills and knowledge in the engineering works to provide proficient in-house consultation corresponding with business expansion of SCT for recycling stations and coal plants. Our works involves project planning and scheduling, providing engineering guideline & recommendation, supervising maintenance service, operational analysis and conducting technology research and studies.
Notable current projects are:
1) Coal Water Mixture (or CWM) - a mixture of pulverized coal and water with a very small quantity of additive chemical. This will be an alternative to heavy fuel oil, used in boilers in manufacturing plants.
